Our Story
Our stewards take stewardship of your front-of-house.
Our team has decades of experience at the forefront of technological and remote services. Our founding team began by facilitating virtual appointments for patients and doctors across North America during the pandemic. It became clear that the hospitality industry was suffering too. Restaurants were closing or significantly reducing their opening hours due to unsustainable costs. Whilst staffing had become scarce or unreliable, adding huge stress to owners or detracting from the customer experience.So, we thought that, with a few tweaks, we could use our tried and tested formula to substantially reduce the costs and negative externalities for businesses in the industry
Hence, Steward
was born!
What Do We Do?
We connect one of our stewards (a cashier) to your till.
They take the
place of on-site staff who would usually “man the till”.
- They’re connected to your location by a screen (of your choice).
- They have a live view of your restaurant which means that, just like normal, a friendly face will greet your customer when they arrive.
- The stewards know your menu and takes the order for your customer.
- The customer sees the order on on the screen next to a live view of the steward.
- Our software is integrated with yours so that the order can go through to where it needs to be and connect with your accounting software.

This simply means that you need more stewards. Each steward is allocated locations based on variable traffic flow so that this situation shouldn’t occur
Absolutely, as long as you have your system setup and software connected, you can use us as and when you like. As a shift service or only in emergencies.
You simply need a tablet (1 per steward) and a wireless payment system.
We’ll then integrate our software with yours.
This is part of our service and covered when you sign a contract with us for at least 1 year.
The staff are our responsibility. We work with you to make sure they are
trained to your standards and ensure that you’re happy with them throuhgout the time they’re serving you. But we manage, pay and discipline staff as appropriate.
Our staff work through all holidays so you won’t have to close if you don’t
want to. Stewards are available 365 days a year.
Our service is suitable for any venue where a customer comes up to a
counter to order a drink or some food.
Whether it’s something they can
pick up and bring with them to the counter, or something that requires
the kitchen’s involvement.

Imagine The Scene…
We want to show you how Steward would work in different scenarios (and it's not just limited to these ones!).
It’s lunchtime, the queue’s building up and people are getting impatient as they’re in a
rush. The2 staff are working the tills and making the coffee. Customers towards the
back of the queue are considering going elsewhere whilst potential customers outside
just walk past your shop. Now, with Steward set up behind the till, the on-site staff will
spend less time moving between order taking and order making. Even if a queue of
people builds up as people are waiting for their order, they’ve already given you their
custom, instead of going elsewhere!
The pub evening is in full swing and your staff are busy clearing tables or running food
from the kitchen. There are guests at the bar waiting to make order but no one on-site is
behind the till. With Steward managing the bar whilst staff are a way, orders can be
taken and made ready for the staff to make when they return, cutting down waiting time
and reducing the need for on-site staff to rush.
In this familiar scenario, guests who have finished their meal can’t flag a waiter down or
pay at the bar because no one’s available. With Steward at the till, guests can pay
whenever they’re ready without bothering your staff who are busy with other important
tasks.
Usually, you’ll have overworked staff on one site and staff sitting around doing very little
on the other. One of our Stewards could be on multiple sites. This means that when
they’re not needed on one site, they can help in the busier one. Stewards aren’t limited
to a single physical location, so it doesn’t matter what site they’re on, it’s the same job
to them!
